The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra was formed in San Francisco in 2007 by guitarist/bandleader Anthony Paule. Inspired by Soul and Blues music of the 1960s and ‘70s, this dramatic eight piece, horn driven powerhouse creates and records their original music, while staying deeply rooted in the origins of this African American art form. APSO’s riveting vocalist Willy Jordan, channels the raw vulnerability, and gritty, high-energy spirit of soul music.
Relatable, empathetic songwriting; pure heart-sung vocals, and supportive, passionate instrumental performances form the backbone of this band. APSO has their own sound, but if comparisons must be made those which come to mind are Al Green, Bobby Bland, Bobby Womack, David Ruffin, Tyrone Davis, and the Stax & Motown record labels.
During their nineteen years together, APSO has recorded and released six singles and seven albums. The recordings earned twenty BMA (Blues Music Awards) nominations, as well as coveted positions on SiriusXM’s Bluesville, numerous radio playlists, and music critics’ “best of” lists for Down Beat Magazine, and Living Blues Magazine.
Anthony Paule recorded on Van Morrison’s 2026 release “Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge”. In September, Anthony will be in London, performing his second residency with Van.
APSO is currently promoting the release of their latest and very well received album “What Can We Do?” which was released July 24, 2026.
