Singer Danny Beissel collaborated with Charlie Colin (formerly of Train) to write and record a few songs in Nashville. A few songs turned into ten! Scott Underwood, another former Train member, joined to produce, record, play drums and co-write on the album. At Underwood’s studio in Nashville, they discovered a strong chemistry and were compelled to form a band. During an inspired evening at a sushi restaurant, where they celebrated the completion of a full album, the three came up with the moniker “Featherborn”!

Shortly after mastering the album, the COVID-19 pandemic intervened, necessitating the project’s postponement. Years later, Danny relocated to Scott and Charlie’s area in Orange County, California. Scott initiated a project called American Salvage and invited Danny and Charlie to perform live concerts throughout the county. This period was successful and a great time until the untimely passing of their cherished friend, Charlie. The loss of their best friend and collaborator left Danny and Scott deeply affected.

A few months later, they honored Charlie’s memory by performing a concert. Curtis Matthewson, a gifted musician and Train’s producer joined them on stage. Reuniting on stage once again inspired Scott and Danny to invite Curtis and re-form, this time as Featherborn, with the intention of finally releasing the album and paying tribute to Charlie’s last written and recorded work.
