WINNER - BEST LOCAL BAND - 2025 - READERS' CHOICE AWARDS - PACIFIC SUN WEEKLY SunHunter is the alt-rock project of Tomas Dessle, a home-grown Marin County misfit turned global troubadour. After tasting all the flavors of the psychedelic rainbow and relentlessly pursuing his craft, SunHunter eventually morphed into a veritable musical chameleon. Traveling the world with his guitar, he has electrified venues big and small throughout California, the Pacific Northwest Coast, and all over Asia in front of crowds of 10,000 strong. SunHunter performs as Tomas solo, as a duo, or as a four-piece band featuring his longtime partners in crime: guitar slinger Jackson Langford, bassist Zach Norman, and percussionist Josh Garcia. SunHunter's original songs span all corners of rock, creating genre-bending power anthems for hopeful, broken souls. Tomas's soaring vocals, melodies, and heartfelt lyrics, alongside the landscape-changing riffs of guitar hero Jackson and his sun-soaked, saccharine harmonies, define their singular sound. With a reputation for blasting out epic three-hour shows featuring stellar originals, as well as a deep catalog of polished covers ranging from Bowie to The Beatles, Radiohead to Rick James, and Pink Floyd to Paula Abdul, SunHunter breathes new life into classics and contemporary hits, making them their own. SunHunter's skills, smarts, and charisma define their performances. They are masters at tailoring their sets to fit each venue and vibe, from top nightclubs and dive bars to festivals, wineries, weddings, and garden parties. Born of the Bay Area’s rich musical lineage, Beso Negro unites multigenerational ties to local music with a fearless fusion of Gypsy jazz, rock, country, and more. Each member brings distinct influences that intertwine into a sound both timeless and electrifying — where the mystery of gypsy swing meets the pulse of modern rock ’n’ roll. Their high-voltage performances have lit up stages from Outside Lands and SXSW to Slim’s SF and The Great American Music Hall. With bilingual flair, virtuosic musicianship, and irresistibly danceable rhythms, Beso creates a spellbinding tapestry that honors tradition while blazing new musical trails.

33 years after starting his full-fledged music career with The Samples, Sean Kelly continues to delight fans with music that transcends genres, age and shatters the rules of the established music industry. Throughout his career, Sean has been the driving influence of 20 albums and over 1 million records sold. Sean started playing guitar at age 16 listening to Neil Young, Rolling Stones and Jackson Browne. Those influences mixed with his own poignant and timeless lyrics, a unique and striking voice and a mind for melodies led to songs like Little Silver Ring, Feel Us Shaking and Wild River. For many fans, these aren’t new songs or old songs, but anthems to their lives that represent the first time they met their wife or the joys of their times at college. The Samples are more than a band – they represent a culture of fans and music that go beyond who happens to be playing in the band at any given time. There have been many members of The Samples, but Sean Kelly has been the consistent factor throughout all of the changes.

Beloved London-born, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Teddy Thompson has returned with the exquisitely crafted Never Be The Same, his first collection of original material since 2020. Across ten tracks, Thompson refines his craft via an exploration of music’s enduring preoccupations — love, longing, and the uneasy passage of time. This album wasn’t built upon a grand narrative. There was no self-imposed exile, no forced reinvention. Instead, it is centered around an exhortation that is threaded through the songs like a refrain: “Never Be The Same,” its title only revealing itself to Thompson after he’d completed the recording. “It’s a phrase that, unconsciously, I used twice. And when I saw it on the page, I realized, this is the message of this album,” says Thompson. “Don’t ever be the same. Change. Grow! Even when the sentiment is, woe is me, I’ll never recover after that love or loss. The message is still, change. Don’t get too comfortable. Everything is temporary, so evolve or perish!” For Thompson, the search for this truth starts with authenticity and personal experience. “Songwriting is magical. You can hear one hundred people sing ‘I love you,’ and you know which one is telling the truth,” Thompson says. “If the root of the sentiment is authentic, it will resonate.”

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shoplifters United bring to life the brilliant songs of legendary group The Smiths with an energetic live show and highly accurate sonic recreations of beloved album tracks and deep cuts. Formed in 1982, iconic British rock group The Smiths are regarded as one of the most influential and important groups to emerge from the 1980s. From Morrissey’s lyrical poetry to the inspired musicianship of Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce, their influence can be heard throughout popular music for decades since and yet their sound is still unique and timeless. Bizarre coincidence? Shoplifters United had their very first rehearsal on the same day in September of 2022 as the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was truly, and quite literally, dead and a humble Smiths tribute band was born. Shoplifters United are Pascal, Matt, Tommy, and James, a group of friends who share a love for the music of The Smiths. Great care has been taken to emulate the sound on those classic Smiths records down to every note and groove. Our hope is that when you go to a Shoplifters United show, you can close your eyes and imagine the year is 1984 and you are at The Haçienda nightclub in Manchester. Shoplifters of the world, unite and take over!

El Radio Fantastique is a cinematic, genre-bending band that defies classification. It is led by its founder, Giovanni DiMorente. Channeling disparate past experiences as a grave digger, dumpster diver, and pop star (of the 80s band Times Two), DiMorente fancies and celebrates the broken and crooked, the paradox of finding beauty in things unpleasant, and he and his band celebrate them with sublime melody and raw emotion. DiMorente has been a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC), and not only writes songs for himself to sing, but also for other vocalists in the band. Violinist Noelle Boucher and keyboardist Robin Livingston both step up to center stage to sing some of DiMorente’scompositions that he has tailored specifically for their individual singing styles, one of which that was co-written by Livingston. Bassist Colin Schlitt is not only another lead singer, but also an accomplished songwriter himself who sings his own original compositions in the band. With this wealth of songwriting, El Radio Fantastique has well over 3 hours of original material at their disposal that encompasses multiple musical genres. With so many lead singers and songwriters stepping out front, coupled with DiMorente switching from guitar, to keyboards, to theremin, to flute, and to percussion, the audience is left transfixed, never knowing what will come next. The genres are ever changing as well. The band effortlessly drifts from punk rock to neo-classical, from indie-power pop to funky dance grooves, all with a throughline of catchiness and authenticity. With the collective of singers in the band, Beatle-esque harmonies are ubiquitous, as are the ear-worm melodies and undeniable pop hooks infused into the exceptional songwriting and seasoned musicianship. The band is rounded out with the versatile guitar work of Jim Cucuzzella, providing at times both blistering and delicately sublime leads and counter-melodies, and the North Star steady beat and hypnotic flourishes of drummer Gene Fisher. DiMorente and the other members of El Radio Fantastique have bonds that go back to childhood. They have well over 100 years of combined playing experience as individuals, and the core members have been playing together for over 15 years. This deep connection and history manifests itself in theuniquely riveting chemistry they display onstage and on record.

Yellowman was born Winston Foster in Negril, Jamaica, in 1959 (some accounts say 1956). An early target for abuse because of his albinism, he grew up in an institution in Kingston, with little to keep him company besides music. Influenced by early toasting DJs like U-Roy, he practiced rhyming and got a job with the Gemini Sound System as a substitute DJ, christening himself Yellowman and dressing in a bright yellow suit. In 1979, he won a landslide victory at the well-known Tastee Talent Contest, and within months he had become one of Jamaica's top concert draws. Yellowman recorded prolifically in the early '80s, at one point flooding the Jamaican market with more than 40 singles. Despite this success, Yellowman didn't truly hit his stride on record until he hooked up with groundbreaking dancehall producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes. The 1982 LP Mister Yellowman kicked off their collaboration; released internationally by Greensleeves, it started to break him in the U.K. and U.S., and is still often acclaimed as his best album. It also launched a series of Jamaican hit singles over the next few years that included "Yellowman Getting Married" (a rewrite of the My Fair Lady number "I'm Getting Married in the Morning"), "Mr. Chin," "Who Can Make the Dance Ram" (a rewrite of "The Candy Man"), "Zungguzungguguzungguzeng" (sampled by several hip-hop acts), "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," "Soldier Take Over," "Nobody Move Nobody Get Hurt," and "Wreck a Pum Pum," among others. Many of his recordings during this era featured vocal contributions from fellow DJ/toaster Fathead, whose specialty was punctuating lines with animal noises ("ribbit" and "oink" were his favorites). Yellowman's recording career continued apace. His popularity had slipped after 1985, due in part to less consistent material, and also in part to the emergence of a legion of new dancehall artists, many of whom harked back to his early material for inspiration. Things changed, however, after an early-'90s bout with skin cancer. Greatly shaken after this second life-threatening illness, Yellowman completely rethought his approach to music, and thereafter devoted himself almost exclusively to spiritual and social concerns. 1994's Prayer album (still on Ras) was the first effort in this new direction, and it was followed quickly by Message to the World in 1995. 1997's Freedom of Speech continued in a similar vein, after which Yellowman switched over to the Artists Only label. His first effort was 1999's Yellow Fever, which concentrated on conscious reggae but also featured some good-natured party tracks. Following the 2003 release of New York, Yellowman entered a lengthy recording hiatus, though he continued to perform live. In 2019, 16 years after his last album, he returned with No More War. The LP was the inaugural release on Yellow Baby Records, a label launched by Yellowman's daughter K'reema, with whom he also collaborates.

Composer, songwriter, singer and player of instruments since his early teens, Clinton Fearon recorded 15 albums under his own name and he’s still touring the world with this impressive repertoire, accompanied by his band or in solo acoustic. Born in Jamaica, Clinton became the bassist, vocalist and lyricist of the mythic Gladiators at the age of 19. He spent 18 years with the band and signed several songs for The Gladiators, hits and classics like Chatty Chatty Mouth, Richman Poorman, On The Other Side, Can You Imagine How I Feel and more. Clinton Fearon was also a session musician for different producers in Jamaica, including Coxsone Dodd at Studio One and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s at Black Ark, but also at Channel One, Aquarius, Harry J, Randy’s, etc. In these studios, Clinton Fearon composed some everlasting bass lines for artists like Yabby You, Jimmy Riley, Max Romeo, Junior Byles and many others. After leaving The Gladiators and Jamaica in 1987, Clinton Fearon started a new career in Seattle. At first he was one of the singers of The Defenders with his fellow Jamaican musicians. The band built a nice following in the area until they split after five years. And finally Clinton Fearon formed his own band in the mid 90s with local musicians: Clinton Fearon and Boogie Brown Band. Since 2019, Clinton Fearon is also teaming up with the Riddim Source band, featuring la crème de la crème of the French reggae musicians scene. Together they recorded “Breaking News” in 2022 and “Jah Is Love”, brand new album of the reggae master, was released June 6th 2025. Each song of Clinton Fearon is a strong message coming from the heart of a man who is dedicating his life to help a better world to come. With chiseled music and poetic lyrics, he opens reggae to a wider audience who simply loves his beautiful songs.

The Seeds remain amongst the most beloved and iconographic of the original 1960s garage-psych avatars. To many, their edgy dissonant sounds and relentless fuzz-fuelled drive, tinged with flights of psychedelic fancy, make The Seeds the quintessential exponent of the genre, as heard on such classics-for-the-ages as ‘Pushin’ Too Hard,’ ‘Can’t Seem To Make You Mine’ and ‘Mr Farmer.’ Their eponymous 1966 debut album has long been recognized as a minimalist rock ’n’ roll masterpiece, while its sequels, the pop-art A Web Of Sound and florid Future, have also grown more influential as time goes on. For decades, the name The Seeds was most closely identified with the activities of their eccentric vocalist, the late Sky Saxon, but the first, path-finding line-up was always a collaboration, the musical director of which was, without a doubt, keyboard whiz Daryl Hooper. Now, in the 2020s, as the only surviving original Seed, Daryl has reclaimed his birthright with a new and powerful set of Seeds personnel: band historian Alec Palao on bass, singer/frontman extraordinaire Paul Kopf, and Sky Saxon alumni Mark Bellgraph on guitar and Justin Smith on drums. LOVE with Johnny Echols sees Arthur Lee’s longest serving band continue to perform the classic songs from Love’s first three albums Love, Da Capo, Four Sail and of course the timeless Forever Changes. This isn’t just a nostalgia trip – their shows are drawing in an increasingly younger audience as teens and students are discovering the timeless music produced by these 60s legends performed by a band that is truly on top of its game.Johnny Echols: “I so look forward to performing LOVE's extraordinary music to an appreciative audience. We perform much of Forever Changes, as well as favourites from our extensive catalogue... a few deep cuts as well as a few surprises!” Joining Johnny Echols on stage is Baby Lemonade who from 1993 until Arthur’s death in 2006 performed as his band and became an essential part of the renaissance of LOVE’s music. This iteration of LOVE saw many sold-out tours, including a US tour with the Zombies, as well as back-to-back performances at the legendary Glastonbury festival (UK) and appearances all over Europe. On July 8th, 2024 “Five String Serenade,” the lead single from Just To Remind You—the first new Arthur Lee / Love studio album in 33 years was released. The song features a gorgeous orchestral arrangement by David Angel, harkening back to his work on Love’s timeless classic Forever Changes. Famously covered by Mazzy Star, the track was recorded in the same room at L.A.’s Sunset Sound where Love recorded their first three albums, and features lead guitar from Love founding member Johnny Echols and tasteful backing from the current and longest-serving incarnation of Love.
Cast aside any and all expectations. Whether behind the piano on a windswept mountainous cliff, at a hallowed venue such as Carnegie Hall, or playing shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most legendary musicians in history, solo pianist Holly Bowling subverts convention with virtuosic playing, emotional immersion, and a thirst for invention. Acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Relix, and more and sought-after by icons such as Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, and Warren Haynes, she once again flips the script on her 2020 album and second reimagining of Grateful Dead staples entitled Seeking All That’s Still Unsung.“When you go to see someone play solo piano, you’re not expecting them to stand up, pluck the strings, drum on the frame, hit the strings with mallets, or place magnets and EBows inside of the piano,” she smiles. “It doesn’t fit with the expectations of how you’re supposed to play this instrument. I think it works though.”Her introduction to the instrument happened at just five-years-old when mom and dad bought a piano from a yard sale down the street. They gave their daughter a choice: ballet or piano. As the sounds of Mozart, Beethoven, and The Grateful Dead piped through their home, she obviously chose the latter without hesitation. After a childhood dedicated to the instrument, she studied piano performance at SF State University. Intermittent gigs around San Francisco followed before she ended up on stage for an impromptu jam with Marco Benevento. “I paid him a dollar to go up there,” she recalls. “It reminded me that for most of my life I wanted to be on stage playing, and I couldn’’t let that slip away.” After catching a 2013 Phish show in Lake Tahoe renowned for its extended rendition of “Tweezer,” she transcribed and arranged the entire 37-minute improvisational masterpiece into a nuanced and intricate piano opus. She humbly refers to it as “a nerdy pet project that somehow inspired people to demand Phish on piano.” It announced her arrival as an exciting outlier and paved the way for Distillation Of A Dream: The Music Of Phish Reimagined For Solo Piano in 2015.As her profile rose, she delivered Better Left Unsung only a year later. For this triple-LP, she rearranged iconic moments from the Grateful Dead on her piano. It bowed in the Top 25 of the Billboard Top Classical Albums Chart. She went on to share the stage with everyone from The Dead’s Weir and Lesh to Haynes, John Scofield, Jim James, Branford Marsalis, Don Was, Robert Randolph, Greensky Bluegrass, and more. Along the way, she graced the bills of Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads and Haynes’s annual Christmas Jam and unveiled the concert recording Live at the Old Church. Simultaneously, she co-founded improvisational rock outfit Ghost Light in 2018. Engaging a faithful audience even in the midst of the “new normal” of 2020, she launched a series of living room livestreams chronicled on the eight-volume Alone Together: The Living Room Sessions highlighted by her innovative re-imaginings of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and many others. In the end, Holly consistently redefines what’s possible on her instrument of choice.

Aki Kumar left his native home in Mumbai, India for the United States with the intention of working as a software engineer. Then he discovered the sounds of the blues, and his life changed dramatically. A masterful harmonica player, soulful vocalist, band-leader, drummer and producer, Kumar is a man of many talents and one of the most prolific artists in the SF Bay Area today. He has successfully blended retro Indian music into his presentation, making for a unique, electrifying, multi-cultural mash-up that sounds like no one else, yet never loses touch with the inspiration it draws from the blues. A veteran of the San Jose music scene for two decades, Kumar was hailed as "...King of ‘Bollywood blues’ music" by SJ Mercury News (2022) and received the Metro Silicon Valley Gold Award for Best Band (2024). Kumar's "Little Village" releases "Aki Goes To Bollywood" (2016) and "Hindi Man Blues" (2018) are considered ground-breaking albums that have garnered international critical acclaim. In 2020, Kumar made major news with the world-wide launch of his album "Dilruba" on Sony Music. In 2021, Little Village released Kumar's uplifting reggae-inspired single "Zindagi" (Life). 2025 marked a milestone year for Kumar with the release of his self-produced “Little Village” album “God Bless The USA” Aki Kumar has made multiple appearances at The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, San Jose Jazz & SF Jazz Festivals, and has been featured on PRI “The World,” KQED Arts and CBS Bay Area. He has toured extensively over the years, including in Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Australia, India and South America. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, The Sampaguitas sing Filipino folk songs and inspired originals in three-part harmony. Drawing influences from folk, blues, doo-wop girl groups, and the Filipinx-American diaspora, Jenevieve Francisco, Cristina Ibarra, and Aireene Espiritu share music from their roots and explore what it means to be in a “third culture” between worlds. The sampaguita is the national flower of the Philippines and only fitting to describe the sweet sounds coming from their melded vocal textures, tones, and tight harmonies. Espiritu, Francisco, and Ibarra met in San Francisco and immediately connected over their shared ancestry and love of music. Their collaboration evolved organically, each bringing musical strengths into the fold. Using Filipino folk songs as a way for them to explore their cultural roots, they soon found that singing together unlocked a deep connection, not only to each other, but to audiences as well. “We each come from different experiences and familiarity with the language. But getting to sing and learn Tagalog, it feels like stepping into a river that flows back to our ancestors. Singing these songs together is like creating our own connection to the country of our roots, and standing proudly in our Pinay heritage.”

Carsie Blanton is a songwriter with hooks, chutzpah, and revolutionary optimism. A radical folk artist in the tradition of Woody Guthrie, her infectious melodies and lyrical wit keep listeners rapt while she conjures spirits of vaudeville, campfire singalongs, and punk rock. Blanton and her road-tested band deploy humor, camaraderie, and considerable musical muscle to enroll each audience in a rare vision of hope and solidarity. In addition to writing and performing music, Carsie works as a political organizer and activist. In fall of 2025, she participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a direct action to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza by sailboat. In early October, after a month at sea, she was imprisoned in Israel for five days along with hundreds of her comrades. Soon after, Blanton released The Little Flame, a song of solidarity covered widely on social media during her detention. The Little Flame features background vocals from Irish band Ye Vagabonds and Carsie’s Palestinian/New Zealander prison-mate Rana Hamida, and appears on her latest album, The Red Album Vol II. After two decades spent on the road, Blanton has amassed a dedicated fan base and a small menagerie of viral hits, and regularly sells out mid-size venues across the U.S. and Europe. 2026 will find her touring heavily with her own band and in collaboration with Canadian folk-punk rabblerousers The Burning Hell, as well as continuing her organizing work with Artists Against Apartheid, Party for Socialism and Liberation and others. “Beautiful, militant anthems.” - Ken Tucker, NPR’s Fresh Air “Carsie Blanton is fighting fascism with big hooks and an even bigger heart.” -American Songwriter

Singer, songwriter, and humanitarian Etana is a powerhouse vocalist and 2X Grammy Award nominee. It's been over a decade since her debut as a reggae artist; she is now a recognized and respected entertainer in her native Jamaica and is also well known worldwide. Born Shauna McKenzie, the young talent migrated to the United States for the opportunity and briefly pursued a pop music career before rediscovering her roots as an adult and adopting the moniker Etana, “The Strong One” in Swahili. The return home spurred the evolution of her sound and is evident in her body of work expressed as the fusion of folk, soul, jazz, and reggae. Etana taps into the likes of Marcia Griffiths, Etta James, and Miriam Makeba for harnessing a deeply emotional sound, and she is the modern embodiment of their influence. In 2008 Etana debuted the album, The Strong One, featuring various musicians and producers. The project reached the #12 spot on the Reggae Billboard chart, and consecutively released singles released by VP Records, which helped to introduce the spirited singer to the world. Lyrical hits “Warrior Love” and “I Am Not Afraid” made a lasting impression, as did “Free” and “Happy Heart” from the second album Free Expressions, notably a repeat Reggae Billboard chart climber. Not to be outdone, she released her fourth album I Rise to much acclaim, nabbing the #1 spot on the iconic chart, marking the first female artist out of Jamaica to earn such a designation seventeen years. Fast forward to 2018, Etana was nominated for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for Reggae Forever in the Best Reggae Album category. The project was co-produced by Etana (Freemind Music) and distributed by Tad's Records. The distinction by The Recording Academy marked the first time in over twenty years that a woman was designated that bracket. In 2019, she released the eight-track EP Dimensions, then a full-length album Gemini released in 2020, Her latest album Pamoja (2021) earned Etana her 2nd Grammy Nomination, the album features from Vybz Kartel, Damian Marley, and Stonebwoy.

Dan Tyminski was six years old when his parents began taking him to fiddle contests, square dances, and bluegrass festivals across New England. For a young musician who would later become one of the biggest names in modern-day bluegrass, those early experiences were life changing. "Watching live music always spoke to me much louder than sitting in front of my record player," he remembers. "I loved it. Wherever music was being played, I wanted to go watch. Years later, I still feel that way." Throughout his 30+ year career, Tyminski has left his mark in every corner of modern music. His voice famously accompanies George Clooney’s performance of the Stanley Brothers’ classic song, “I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow,” in the film, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? and his vocal collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii on the song “Hey Brother” was a global smash, having been streamed more than a billion times to date. His diverse solo projects and years of work with Alison Krauss and Union Station have yielded troves of award-winning music. With his newest album release – the Grammy-nominated 2024 concert album Dan Tyminski: Live From The Ryman – he captures the magic of those live shows, while also proving that he still has the same passion for live music as he did when he was growing up. His earliest touring and recording work was as a part of the band, Green Mountain Bluegrass. He later joined the influential bluegrass group, Lonesome River Band, before embarking on his three decades of work with Alison Krauss and Union Station. The first album that Tyminski recorded as a solo artist was the soul-stirring Carry Me Across the Mountain (2000), followed by the Grammy-nominated Wheels (2008) which was named the 2009 Album of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association. His work with the EDM artist, Avicii, inspired Dan to create the genre-defying Southern Gothic album, released in 2017 to much critical acclaim. Tyminski would then showcase again his heart for bluegrass with the 2022 EP tribute to Tony Rice, One More Time Before You Go, which included guest performances by Molly Tuttle, Sam Bush, Dailey & Vincent, and Billy Strings. The following year saw the release of the full-length bluegrass album, God Fearing Heathen, which quickly hit #1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart. Over the course of his career, Tyminski has also evolved into a prolific songwriter, penning songs with Monty Criswell, Phillip Lammonds, Kristian Bush, Ashley Monroe, Chris Stapleton and many others. Dan has been honored with 14 Grammy Awards and is a four-time Male Vocalist of the Year honoree by the International Bluegrass Music Association. He has also recorded instrumental or vocal harmony contributions for projects by Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Joan Osborne, Charlie Daniels, Kenny Chesney, LeAnn Rimes, Rob Thomas, and Charlie Haden, to name a few. Tyminski certainly represents the pinnacle of modern bluegrass music. While Dan enjoys a good conversation and a good cigar, he can often be found participating in charitable Pro-Am golf tournaments, as well as competing regularly in the Foosball tournament circuit.

Israel Vibration A living lesson in fortitude, the vocal trio of Cecil "Skeley" Spence, Albert "Apple Gabriel" Craig, and Lascelle "Wiss" Bulgin overcame adversity, illness, and poverty to become one of the finest roots groups in Jamaica's history. All three had been afflicted by polio and first became acquainted, albeit briefly, at Kingston's Mona Rehabilitation Clinic. The three teens had individually all previously converted to rastafarianism, now their shared faith and childhood experiences helped forge a strong friendship. They spent the next six years singing around Kingston for their suppers and by 1975, Israel Vibration was a vocal force to be reckoned with. The group's exquisite dread sound and militant cultural themes made an instant impression and the trio now found themselves on-stage opening for the likes of Bob Marley and Dennis Brown. The trio's deeply devotional songs, cultural themes, inspirational lyrics, and original take on the roots style had struck a chord with reggae fans around the world. They relocated to New York City, perhaps believing that the large immigrant community could sustain them, or that America was now ready to embrace roots. But a few occasional live appearances aside, the group swiftly disappeared from view. All three attempted solo careers, but only Bulgin made it on to record; his Mr. Sunshine album paired him with the Freedom Fighters Band. In 1997, Apple Gabriel left the group to pursue a solo career, releasing the album Another Moses in 1999. Skelly and Wiss continue to record albums and tour the world as Israel Vibration, backed by longtime associates Roots Radics. In December 2014 they were reportedly recording a new album set for release in early 2015. The new album, entitled "Play It Real" was released on 31 March 2015 via Utopia. On March 23rd, 2020, Albert "Apple Gabriel" co-founder and former member of the group died due to 'compilation sickness', earlier reports indicated that Albert was not well for quite some time, this was supposedly due to some of the polio infections left in his body. On a Facebook post on March 7, 2020, he had indicated that he had suffered a stroke. He died on March 23, 2020. On August 26th, 2022, Cecil "Skelly" Spence died of lung cancer. Wiss carries on the music with the Roots Radics, and Israel Vibration continues to keep audiences dancing worldwide.

Most recently the band is promoting their new singles "They Will Test You", "This Weapon", and "Give Me A Song". A force to be reckoned with live, the band actively performs all over the state of California, gracing clubs, bars, coffee shops, radio stations, old folks homes and circus tents. They have shared stages with the likes of guitar virtuoso Grace Bowers and Latin Music Legends Ozomatli as well as being featured extensively on Bay Area radio stations including KPFA, KALW, and KALX. 2026 will see the band continuing to release new material and expanding their presence on stages up and down the West Coast. Travis Hayes has shared the stage with Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio, blink-182), Graham Coxon (Blur), John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday, Straylight Run), Nathaniel Rateliff (The Night Sweats), The Band Perry, Langhorne Slim, Blitzen Trapper, John Moreland, The Record Company, Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Lucero, Tim Barry (Avail) and more. In addition to traveling the country (10+ cross-country tours, SXSW x3, Rockwood Music Hall NYC, Hotel Cafe LA, Off Beat Music Festival Reno), Travis Hayes has performed locally at The Fillmore, The Warfield, The Mountain Winery, Bimbo’s 365 Club, Rickshaw Stop, The Chapel, August Hall, Sweetwater Music Hall and has headlined Great American Music Hall, The Independent and Bottom of the Hill for the Noise Pop Music Festival.

Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Vonda Shepard has sold over twelve million albums, won two Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards, two Screen Actor’s Guild awards, and is most notably the writer and performer of the original “Searchin’ My Soul”, the theme song for Ally McBeal. She also holds the Billboard prize for selling the most T.V. soundtracks in history. Vonda began playing clubs at the age of fourteen and was signed to Reprise Records at 24, where her “Don’t Cry Ilene” became a VH1 hit topping out at #11. In 1986, Vonda had a major pop hit singing “Can’t We Try” in a duet with Dan Hill that made it to #6 on the Pop Charts. It was during these early years as a successful indie performer that she toured with such luminaries as Rickie Lee Jones, Al Jarreau and Jackson Browne as either back-up singer or keyboardist. Vonda’s most demanding work was on Ally McBeal as music producer, where her hit theme song, “Searchin’ My Soul” reached #16 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. For nearly five years she produced over 500 songs, for artists like Al Green, Sting, Randy Newman, Robert Downey Jr. Jon Bon Jovi, Gladys Knight, Chubby Checker, Barry Manilow and many more. Vonda now tours in support of her most recent album Red Light/Green Light with her stellar band, whose all-star line-up has alternately featured musicians that have played with Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, John Hiatt and Jackson Browne to name a few.

Audiences of all ages instantly fell in love and soon JMF was playing to packed rooms from legendary stages throughout California, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington — dazzling new fans on the scene and pulling even the most discerning Jerry fanatics out of their seats for the first time in decades. The magic all starts with lead vocalist and guitarist Garrett Deloian. As a seasoned veteran of the blues circuit, he channels his lifelong love for the work of Garcia into every lick with his unparalleled mastery and tone. Drummer/founder Rodney Newman, a student of The Dead/JGB since his youth, leads the band’s reliable and relentless rhythm section. Rodney's kick shares the bottom end with the steady and inspired bass playing of the multi-talented Son Vo. Rounding things out are two powerhouse vocalists, Halina Janusz and Lisa Malsberger, and veteran pianist and organ champion Jon Gold. The future looks bright for JMF as they get ready to take their heartfelt magical dance parties to further points across the country. So whether you saw Jerry 500 times or were born after his time on earth, this much is true: JMF will make you feel like he’s still here. Garrett Deloian - lead guitar and vocals Halina Janusz - vocals Lisa Malsberger - vocals Jon Gold - keys and organ Son Vo - bass guitar Rodney Newman - drum kit

One of the longest-running reggae acts of all time, Third World remained one of Jamaica's most consistently popular crossover acts among international audiences for over 40 years. Regularly appearing on American and U.K. charts throughout the '80s, the band embraced a fusion sound that married elements of pop and soul to a reggae core on albums like 1989's Serious Business. Third World was formed in 1973 by keyboardist Michael "Ibo" Cooper and guitarist/cellist Steven "Cat" Coore. Both had received formal training at music schools in Jamaica, and both had played around the Kingston reggae scene before joining the original lineup of Inner Circle around 1968. When they left to form their own band in 1973, they took Inner Circle bassist Richard Daley with them, and also recruited drummer Carl Barovier, percussionist Irvin "Carrot" Jarrett, and lead singer Milton "Prilly" Hamilton. Barovier was quickly replaced by Cornell Marshall, and the group made its live debut that year at Jamaica's independence celebration. They played around the Kingston club scene and made a name for themselves as one of the few fully self-contained bands around. Having all their own musicians on hand, Third World didn't need to rely on sound systems to play records that weren't practical to duplicate live. As a result, they found it difficult to land a label deal, since most labels in Jamaica were operated by sound systems. Third World solved the problem by traveling to England for a tour, and subsequently signing with the internationally minded Island label. Island issued their debut single, "Railroad Track," in 1974 and sent them out on a European tour as the opening act for Bob Marley & the Wailers. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1976 and featured a successful cover of the Abyssinians' roots classic "Satta Massagana." The follow-up, 1977's 96° in the Shade, introduced new drummer Willie "Roots" Stewart and new lead singer William Clarke, aka Bunny Rugs. It was an enormous critical success in the U.K. and Europe, and spawned an all-time classic single in the title track. That set the stage for the group's commercial breakthrough album, 1978's Journey to Addis, which featured a funky, disco-flavored reggae cover of the O'Jays' "Now That We Found Love." The song hit the Top Ten on the American R&B charts in 1979, and Third World found themselves international stars.

New York based trio SUSS bridges classic Americana instrumentation with atmospheric minimalism, pioneering a genre they call “ambient country,” – a term aptly defining their vivid and singular sound. SUSS have been described by UNCUT as if “Eno’s Apollo Atmospheres crash-landed in America’s Sonoran Desert,” and by Pitchfork as “Neither rawboned nor ramshackle… elegantly composed brand of ambient country stands as tall and clean as a brand-new pair of cowboy boots.” SUSS embrace pedal steel, a National guitar, mandolin, harmonica, baritone guitar, and the harmonium interwoven with synthesizers and loops, creating a massive high lonesome sound. Jonathan Gregg: Pedal Steel, dobro Bob Holmes: Mandolin, baritone guitar, acoustic guitar, harmonica, violin, Keyboards Pat Irwin: Electric guitars, National guitar, eBow, harmonium, keyboards, melodica, loops Evann McIntosh (they/them) mixes dark alt-pop and dreamy R&B with streaks of hip-hop, jazz, and funk, grappling with growth and evolution, gender identity and sexuality, freedom, and self-expression. Their writing is as insightful as it is unpredictable, alternating between earnest poeticism and playful acrobatics, and the production is similarly adventurous, wrapping their performances in lush, magnetic arrangements. Even at its most densely layered, the music remains a work of pure intimacy, unravelling the mysteries of their psyche one song at a time. Seven tracks were cut at Deslonde St Studios with musicians handpicked by Sam Doores of The Deslondes, including Howe Pearson, Max Bien Khan, Jonny Campos, and a guest appearance from Desiree Cannon. Longtime collaborator Anna Moss appears across much of the record. The remaining tracks were finished at the Rope Room in Astoria, carrying over the same spirit and palette. The cover art, painted by Brittany Schall, nods to the design of mid century samba and jazz records. The album’s singles trace the path of its making. “Fire Season,” engineered by Bart Budwig, was one of the first songs written and features Cooper Trail, Nevada Sowle, Luke Ydstie, and Jamie Greenan. “Dry Land” was reworked in Astoria after early New Orleans sessions didn’t feel right. “Edna Strange,” inspired by Marty Robbins, is the only track where Craigie plays steel string acoustic, with Max Bien Khan on nylon string leads and a trio vocal arrangement in place of Moss’s harmonies. Following 2024’s Pagan Church with TK & The Holy Know-Nothings, which spent six weeks at #1 on the Americana Albums chart, I Swam Here feels both expansive and intimate, shaped by the musical history of the Gulf Coast and the stillness of the Pacific Northwest. Craigie remains a tireless live performer, touring throughout the U.S., Europe, and Australia, appearing at festivals like Newport Folk, Pickathon, Edmonton Folk Festival, and High Sierra, and sharing the stage with artists such as Langhorne Slim, Sierra Hull, Gregory Alan Isakov, Brett Dennen, and Jack Johnson. His annual #KeepItWarm Tour donates $1 from every ticket sold to regional nonprofits, and his John Craigie On The River trips on the Tuolumne and Rogue rivers have become cherished gatherings for fans. I Swam Here is a grounded, collaborative step forward, blending New Orleans grit with Pacific Northwest quiet, and showing a songwriter still widening the world of his music.

Moonalice is an exuberant Bay Area ten-piece known for delivering a unique brand of psychedelic soul and rock-tinged Americana. With an unparalleled list of collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, the family tree of Moonalice has touchedevery corner of rock and roll history. Led by vocalist Lester Chambers, who co-founded pioneering '60s psychedelic soul group The Chambers Brothers; bassist Pete Sears, a founding member of Jefferson Starship who has played with everyone from Rod Stewart to Jimi Hendrix, and guitarist Roger McNamee, who was an advisor to Grateful Dead and U2 and fights against entrenched power in the tech industry - their incredible chemistry shines through in their live performances and the recent release of the Chambers Brothers classic, "Time Has Come Today." Moonalice also features esteemed members Barry Sless (lead guitar and pedal steel), Jason Crosby (keyboards), Grammy winner John Molo (drums), along with the next generation of legends including Lester's son Dylan Chambers, and Erika, Rachel, and Chloe Tietjen of acclaimed Americana band the T Sisters.
Ralph Woodson’s Purple Haze is not your typical tribute band. He has studied his idol to the point of being able to play the guitar behind his back, and with his teeth. Ralph’s a Hendrix authority, and it’s obvious when you see him perform. The youngest of nine, he grew up in Richmond, CA, and was initially struck by the sound of the “Band of Gypsys” record. Ralph has toured with Hedzoli Sounds (of which Hugh Masekela was a member), as well as The Mighty Diamonds, Lady Bianca, Faye Carol, and a Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead)/Sy Klopps (Herbie Herbert) collaboration called the Trichromes. With the Trichromes and later with the Sy Klopps Blues Band, Ralph played on big stages opening for Tower of Power, James Brown, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others. He’s appeared at the College of Marin and on KFOG-FM with author/Hendrix expert Steve Roby, demonstrating the sound and techniques of Jimi Hendrix. Ralph formed the Ralph Woodson Experience in 2001 (which became Purple Haze in 2010), focusing on the Hendrix material that he grew up with and always loved. Purple Haze has gained a steady following in the Bay Area and knock people out wherever they go. Ralph’s showmanship and command of the Hendrix material is second to none. Pete Roberts (bass, backing vocal) enjoyed music at a very early age and began playing bass and guitar when he was twelve. Pete has logged thousands of miles on the road and has appeared at several festivals, including the Atlanta Jazz Festival. Leo Vigil (drums) dynamic and aggressive playing brings new life to the project. Leo is an in demand session drummer all over California and has played or recorded with Carlos Reyes, Steve Miller and Dave Koz among many others.

Karla Bonoff has been described as one of the finest singer/songwriters of her generation. That description is not hyperbole. Bonoff has enjoyed critical acclaim, commercial success, enduring popularity, and the unwavering respect of her peers. Karla has seen her songs become hits for Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd, and Linda Ronstadt. Many of Bonoff’s ballads are classics. Karla has continued to record and tour extensively, playing sold-out shows around the world. Hearing Karla’s moving vocals on her rich, expressive songs is like standing beneath a sparkling waterfall–refreshing, exhilarating, and restorative. Experiencing them live can be transformative. Fans and critics agree that Bonoff’s songs are timeless as are her recordings. Many prefer her versions, live with instrumentation that is clean and spare, giving Bonoff’s voice room to work its emotional magic. In 2019, Karla released her first new album in over a decade, Carry Me Home, a 16-song set featuring brand new recordings of Karla’s classics along with new songs by Karla, Kenny Edwards, and a cover of a vintage Jackson Browne tune, Something Fine, which Karla performed on the 2015 compilation, Looking into You: A Tribute To Jackson Browne. In late 2020, Karla released, Silent Night, her first collection of Holiday music, to wide acclaim, including a prominent listing on the New York Times Best New Holiday Albums of the Year. In 2021 Karla added two new songs to her Holiday collection including a duet with the legendary Michael McDonald. The media continues to follow and shine a spotlight on Karla’s ongoing career milestones. She was featured in the acclaimed Linda Ronstadt documentary: The Sound of My Voice, highlighting her friendship with Linda and as the writer of several of her biggest songs, including Grammy Winner, All My Life. Bob Lefsetz, a longtime fan, interviewed her for his popular podcast and dug deep into her history as a pioneer of the Southern California Singer-Songwriter scene, Trisha Yearwood’s new album includes a lovely rendition of Karla’s, Home. Mary Sue Toohey of The Village on Sirius/XM hosted a performance & interview, and she was invited to sing on the longest-running radio program for acoustic music, Acoustic Café. As dynamic as ever in her solo shows, Karla is also available to package with various accomplished musical partners, including a new offering, “Home for the Holidays” with Livingston Taylor (by arrangement with Paladin Artists).
